Eating
well tough sometimes when you haven’t
got a place to stay or a place to cook. When
you have Hep C or HIV, it’s even more important
to try and eat well because your body needs extra
fuel to keep it healthy. Eating fruits and vegetables
of any kind (even canned or frozen) is really
good for you. So is drinking lots of water!!
Sometimes it’s easier to drink coffee all
day especially when all the drop-ins have coffee,
but water is better for you and it’s free
from any tap! There are lots of places in town
where you can get free meals or food bank hampers.
Here is a list of places around the city that
provide free meals:
Salvation Army Family Services 9620-101 A Avenue
Emergency food hampers can be obtained every 3
months
To qualify for assistance, must show ID, rent receipt
and current income receipt
Open Mon. - Thurs. 9:00-11:00 AM and 1:00-3:00
PM
Fridays 7:30-8:15 AM, breakfast is served followed
by a chapel service – food hamper can be
picked up following the service (except Fridays)
Senior Dinner (55 yrs +) every second Friday; must
